1. Parent Teacher conferences
Please e-mail teachers directly to set up an appointment for a parent teacher conference this week if you have not already done so. If your child is in Beginner’s Latin, you must set up an appointment with Mrs. Martin.

2. Starlighting
Starlighting will be this Saturday, November 19th in downtown Castle Rock. Please send an e-mail to Ed Sun to sign up for a time slot when you can help man our booth. The event starts at 2:30 so we have to be completely set up by that time. It runs until 5:30. Mrs. Bass will be heading up our carolers to sing at the event. She would love to include more students for some “fun” carols so please speak with her this week if you or your student would like to join in!

3. SCRIP Orders – due 11/15/11
Please turn in your SCRIP order to the front office by the end of the day on Tuesday, November 14th. For those of you who are not familiar with this fundraising program, you are purchasing gift cards at face value and we receive a percentage of what you pay through the program. All you have to do is mark down on the order sheet, how many cards of whatever vendors/value you would like and give us a check for the exact amount of your card total. So, if you order a $25 gift card, you give us a check for $25. There is NO additional cost to you. As you can see on the order form, the percentages vary from vendor to vendor so please keep that in mind. In other words, some vendors give us more money back than others. Orders will be placed at the end of the day on Tuesday and will be ready for pick up on Friday, November 18th. At this time, our cards, other than the King Soopers’ cards, are non-reloadable.

If you would like to order a King Soopers card, please write it down in one of the blank spaces at the end of the SCRIP order form. Please include the amount you would like on that card from $10- $500.

4. Thank you!
We would like to thank all the parents who volunteered for our Peter and The Wolf, HONK! and Symphony field trips. Jeanette Anderson, Kathy Kinch, Alan Lordi, Stephanie and Chris Hunter, Patricia Tafoya, Marilyn Simpson, Neda Arami, Cara Billings, Mike Senary and Jennifer Muske, Ed Sun, Shannon Sliwinski, Pamela Gaytan, and Theresa Kyte. You all made our lives so much easier!

5. Girls’ Choir - longer practice
Girls Ensemble Choir will have an extended practice on Friday, November 18th in preparation for caroling at the Starlighting on Saturday. We plan to practice until at least 5:00 but I ask for your flexibility since we have a lot of material to cover and very little time.

6. No Scrapbooking until after Winter Break
Scrapbooking Club will not meet again until after the winter break. Girls Ensemble will have extended practices up until our concert date (only 3 weeks away!).

7. Holiday Concert – 12/9/11
Friday, December 9th is our Annual Winter Concert! I ask everyone to make a special effort to be there. We will be featuring each of our Music classes with unique talent and a show you don't want to miss. 7:00 at Church of Pentecost 821 5th Street, Castle Rock.

8. Opera fieldtrip - Middle School ONLY - 2/16/12

9. Materials for Music Class
Mrs. Bass is still in need of 2 liter bottles or cylindrical containers and old magazines for a music project. Thank you to everyone who has brought in their "trash" for Mrs. Bass’ "treasure."

10. Pajama Day – 11/22/11

However, if you have any objections, you may inform Mrs. Bass on Monday morning so she can excuse your student and have them complete some other work outside of class during that time. 4. Election Guidelines
Election Guidelines for Candidates for Student Office

1. You may bring in and put up two (2) posters describing yourself and your candidacy. You may NOT attack opponents. You MAY say why people should vote for you, but you may NOT say why they shouldn’t vote for someone else.
2. You may bring in treats to be served on Election Day during lunch. The treats may NOT indicate which candidate brought them, either directly (written in icing, etc.) or on a label. They are not bribes to persuade people to vote for you. They are expressions of gratitude to people for participating in the election process. Please try to keep the treats relatively healthy. If the treats are unusual in some way—gluten free, sugar free, etc.—please say so on a label. Although we have no serious nut allergies, we do have some mild to moderate dietary intolerances; please indicate the presence of nuts or dairy on a label.
3. Each candidate will make a speech during lunch. You may NOT insult other candidates. You may NOT make impossible promises (for example, solve the health care crisis, balance the national budget, pay off the deficit, bring about world peace); you MAY say what you will do if you are elected. Your speech should show that you understand the duties of the office you are seeking.
4. Anyone caught defacing another candidate’s posters or insulting another candidate will be removed from the race immediately. If it is discovered afterwards, the person will be removed from office.
5. You MUST have fun!
